I love it! It never would have occurred to me, but that's how we keep hundreds of warp threads from tangling while putting them on the loom. Chaining. I'm going to do that! Thanks so much.

I have seen this method before, but I prefer the film set way. When we wrap a stinger it's all the same direction with loops about the size of a dinner plate. This trains the cord to coil correctly and lay flat. They are a heavier gauge than typical household extension cords. The only hiccup is when somebody who doesn't know what they are doing wraps your cables over under or around their forearm, slowing down the next guy.

that's exactly like crochet

@BarFly2000 This is true... I always throw my audio cables down the wrong way, causing them to drop in a bunch. Makes them last forever but untangling is such a pain.

@merrittmanc It's news to me.
This is a great method for wrapping rope, but isn't the best for power cables. It creates kinks that will eventually cause the wire to lay down funny. We in the industry call them a**holes, because they'll trip you up when you're carrying equipment. Look up the under over technique or figure 8 for power cables or half twist for audio cables. The only thing that concerns me is the knot in the middle. Any time you knot a power cord, it puts strain on the insulation creating a failure point.
