In this video I show you what happened to my Yucca plant, sometime in the last week or so. The main stem or stalk is chewed off, with just the leaves remaining. Hopefully the root is still good, and it will grow back, I hope... What kind of animal does this?
I transplanted this from along the dirt road, maybe 20 years ago, at least 15 years ago anyway.

  • Well whatever did this managed to do it without eating the leaves. It's all very odd. I hope the root survived. I will try to be optimistic about that.

  • Im so sorry about your plant. I guess its rabbit or ground hog and they may only like the fleshy root (looks like stem) to ear. the leaves are grassy and they may not like to eat hard leaf blades while root (stem) is juicy and succulent. But the good news is its perennial so if the root is fortunately there it may come out again , keep it fenced this time !

  • well my dog ate mine and thats about what it looked like when he did it

  • Ground sqirrels, rabbits and others cause this kind of damage especially if it has been very dry. The critters get thirsty.

  • Wow, what a shame. It could've been a deer, raccoon, black bear, or the JD...

  • Deer or Hog? Mine is blooming. Peace

  • i was going to say the snow crushed it but you have a picture od it 4 weeks prior. probably a jersey deer.

  • Deer?
