See best video at YouTube for the song "Sue Me": Guys and Dolls (1955) - Sue Me (with lead-in dialogue) 21/23 (N..B. The song starts mid-way through the video, after the lead-in, at c. 2mins15secs. I reckon it's one of the best versions of the song on YouTube as the resolution of the video is great - film quality! - and the lead-in sets the scene/reason for the song.)
It may have been cut in your version to shorten the length of the performance. This decision to exclude/include a song is common in both prof & amateur productions. I once played a role that was so big - with the character having long lines to learn, and in every scene in the play! - that the 'director' split the role i.e. with me playing the character half of the play, and the other half played by s/o else. Mind you, we were at primary school, & were only 11 years old! ,-)
No: This song was !definitely! in the original Broadway STAGE production (1950). It was also in the 1955 film. Sinatra & Vivian Blaine sang this duet in the movie, as Nathan & Miss Adelaide.
It is frequently incorrectly referred to as 'Adelaide, Adelaide', but is actually entitled 'Sue Me'.
For info, search for 'Guys and Dolls' at Wikipedia & at the official Frank Loesser website (fr...lo...DOTcom). [WHY won't YouTube let us post URLs here?! It's so frustrating!! Grrrr!!]
