I-News spent ten months investigating what is really happening to students who attend online K-12 schools in Colorado. We found that millions in state taxpayer dollars are going to online schools for students who aren't attending classes, those who do fall farther behind the longer the stay "online," and attempts at reforming the $100 million system have failed.
We had a good experience with COVA with our elementary student. But, it required adult leadership.
Of course, I suspect every successful student has adults behind them.
But, I'm willing to acknowledge that this won't work for every child.

COVA makes promises it doesn't keep. No help for students at home.
Online school is for kids who can work on their own and have a want to learn. Almost all others will fail online schooling. I know this from experience with my teen! But boy, they wanted our school dollars and made it sound so wonderful!
So back to school he went..a school that felt over $700,000 for a new football field last year was needed but this year want us to give them more taxes? NO!
