Director's Statement: The moment I decided I had to make this video was the moment I stepped into the historic Far East Cafe, now Chop Suey Restaurant, in downtown Japantown. The original dark wood booths and period tables and chairs took my breath away; as I thought about all the events, family gatherings, and painful goodbyes experienced over the 70+ years of history. There was no turning back and I felt the restaurant wanted its story told as much as I did. I wanted to tell a story of the feeling you get when you meet a stranger and feel like you already know them - know their spirit, know their essence. I have always walked away and let the feeling go, but what if you are soul mates that meet in each lifetime over and over again, and this is your last chance to be together? It was one miracle after another that made this video possible with the shoestring budget we had and the end result is a video every one of us that contributed our time is proud of.
