The Sicilian mafia is one of the strongest organized crime bodies in the world.

But over the past two years, more and more people have been fighting back.

I'm American of Sicilian descent from both sides of my family. The Moors are actually of Arab and Berber descent from North Africa. Sicilians are mixed with many different ethnicities because it was one of the most invaded places. I had the opportunity to visit Sicily and was surprised to learn that many of the Catholic Churches there used to be Arab Mosques. I believe we are darker skin because we are closer to the equator. Sicilians are Europeans at its most southern tip.

@jdpegg the Commora Mafia of Naples is 10 times more ruthless than the Cosa Nostra of Sicily and has been around longer than the Cosa Nostra, but yet we never hear about the Commora of Naples just the Sicilian Mafia.

I have been in Sicily and asked an taxi driver about the mafia, he said (in broken english): ''You shouldn't worry about the mafia they are really nice people to tourists and locals, most of the shops are run by them here''

People I know are so ashamed somtimes because in their Italian heritage they have the Mafia. I'm Italian and so what, Yes Italians live with the Burden of the mafia but you don't think that Blacks and Mexicans have it just as bad? If not worse yet they live with it, man up and stop being ashamed all cultures have downsides. Crime and coruption will always exists, Always.
