Appam egg hoppers are a real treat to eat when in Sri Lanka.

The basic recipe begins with a batter made from rice flour, water and a splash of toddy palm wine.

The batter is spread into a hot small rounded skillet and cooked until it begins to bubble like a pancake. At this point one can either eat the appam (hopper) plain or and a raw egg on top!

When you're in Sri Lanka don't miss out on the delicious appam egg hoppers!

egg hoppers are the best thing in the whole wide world...along with pittu...and string hoppers with coconut curry..and devilled fish curry...and daal...and kottu...and the deep-fried-prawns-served-on-a-­cracker-thing whose proper name I can't remember but they sell it in festivals and it's absolutely delicious! oh sri lanka..

WOW…dude….I feel jealous about you. I’m originally from Sri Lanka and living in LA. I missed Sri Lanka food in big time. This is moth watering… Same time I’m amazed How much of spiciness you can huddle. That thing you eat (Lunu Miris ) with hoppers is spicy !!! And you eat a lot….! Any way great video…you are awesome…
