Steve Reich.

The Minimalist composer Steve Reich, who became a major player in the 1960s, celebrates his 70th birthday this year.

Brian Eno, Michael Nyman and Alex Paterson from The Orb testify to his far-reaching

  • "(...)has ????? as a composer of rare invention and originality"

I´m trying to translate this so that spanish speakers can appreciate this documentary too

could you tell me that missing word please?

    thank you for sharing!!!!!

  • Hi robertronics, sorry i only just saw your post.

....has 'marked him out' (made him stand out) as a composer of rare invention and originality....

    Hope this helps!

  • I thought id post this due to the lack of decent Reich material about. This is a South Bank Show featuring interviews with the man himself, analysis of his career and performance and rehearsal footage of his major works (Four Organs, Drumming, 18 Musicians et al).

    Enjoy!

  • Watching/listening to this on a Sunday as I used to.

Used to hate it - meant it was school the next day!! LOL

  • every time i entered a room and hear music i said:

turned it off, turned it off, turned it off, turned it off, turned it off, turned it off, turned it, turned it, turned it, turned it, turned it, turned it, turned, turned, turned, turned, turned, turned, it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna be monotonous

  • what's the type of rollercoaster at 6:46?

  • does anyone has a video or recording of this version of Daniel Variations shown in the documentary? It's much slower and far more beautiful than the CD version being sold =/

  • Long GCSE Music Homework

  • How odd - we react the same way to his so called music -we ask for Reich

be turned off - the height of banality

  • Are South Bank shows commercially available in USA?

  • fuck, nothing to say, he is enormous. a real genius

he's sooo important for lots of post rock bands
