The story of Darion Mograine, the Ashbringer, and Tirion Fordring.

The quality of this film and some of the camera angles is not very good, and for that I apologize. This was made during Beta, back before WotLK came out and it was VERY difficult to get a good recording on the beta servers due to the constant flood of people making new DKs and running around, screwing up footage. I had also accidentally left the compression settings to save at half resolution, since I had been saving a lot of stuff for Beta Chronicles.

Perhaps I will re-do this film some day.

This is the event that happens at the end of the death knight quest chain. The Knights of the Ebon Blade - death knights of Acherus - find themselves confronting their past and their future.

Darion killed himself with the Corrupted Ashbringer to free the spirit of his father, Alexandros Mograine. The great sword Ashbringer became corrupt when Alexandros' first son, Renault Morgraine, betrayed and killed his father with the blade. However, he was unable to attune himself to the weapon. Alexandros was resurrected as a death knight, wielding the foul sword. However, when Darion plunged the blade through his heart, he freed his father's spirit and took the curse of undeath upon himself.

Now Darion serves the Lich King Arthas. In an attempt to drive light from the lands, they bring a final assault to Light's Hope Chapel... where the Argent Dawn and the Order of the Silver Hand await them.

Music is from the King Arthur soundtrack: Hold the Ice and All of Them.

  • @michelesempre1 I agree with you about Bolvar, but Arthas? Did you forget that Arthas only murdered thousands along the way too you know? His entire unit of troops that went with him to Northrend, mercenaries, all those people of Stratholme, Muradin (but he survived), Uther, Lordaeron King, Sylvanas, Antonidas... I can go on.

  • @1992Wowcrazy Uh no. When Arthas killed all those citizens of Stratholme, he wasn't even in possession of Frostmourne nor was he anywhere near it. In fact, he didn't even know about the sword yet. Arthas was a great villain, but his downfall came out of his own selfishness for revenge. Nerzhul merely took advantage of Arthas' headstrong stupidity.

  • If there is one thing I love about Blizzard, it's the voice actors. They give the characters so much life and emotion that it brought tears to my eyes. The whole Arthas/Lich King/Darion story is just...I always get sad or even cry when it comes to it.

  • all this epicness and suddenly Pally Stole My Bike just lol wtf

  • @oceanwind11 Arthas was far too young and not wise enough that time. This is what the Lich King used agantist him: all along, it was the lich king's plan to enrage Arthas by murdering the innocents of his father's kingdom. Arthas thirsted for vengeance after it. After he touched Frostmourne, the runeblade siphoned his soul just like any other else's who were slain by that blade. At the Halls of Reflection Uther says: only Arthas prevents the scourge from the invasion over azeroth.

  • @oceanwind11 actuly he was halfly controlled by frostmourn.

  • Ah.. Hans Zimmer makes good soundtracks indeed.

  • @lvbuckeye i ahev seen this 43 times and i have done the death knights starting zone 14 im doing my 15 time now

p.s i don't do it for fun im doing it because i love the lore about alexandos mograine the ashbringer and because i like to kill thousands of scarlets

  • Tirion's final speech gives me the chills. Awesome voice actor.

  • one of the most epic cut scenes in the entire game... and the reason i've rolled and deleted maybe 10 DKs.

  • @FrankTehTank96 LK : untouchable, escapes at every whim and has every single corner well defended, planning ahead for several epic assaults on his own continent

Deathwing : Meh... flies around ganking lvl 1's... we will get some gear off him in a few content patches...

  • I think we can all agree LK was the most epic final boss lore and raid wise in WoW history
