SoCal Training Camp, Jan/Feb 2011, misc bits from various days on the bike. Includes trackstands (and tips on trackstanding), drafting some trucks, and the Lake Wohlford descent (done not too fast).

Home base for the training camp is in Vista, CA, but the majority of the clips are from Carlsbad CA (trackstands, drafting) and the descent is by Lake Wohlford. The various sitings are along the Pacific Coast Highway, with one obvious one taking place in Camp Pendleton (don't worry, nothing shown that endangers national security).

CountourHD1080p set per YouTube user slowroadie at 720p@60fps. Goggle mount with wide velcro strap.

Bike is a custom geometry Tsunami, from tsunamibikes.com, frame built by Joseph Wells. Campy 10s, SRM SI crank, various HED clincher wheels. None of the listed companies/individuals sponsor me, I just use the equipment because I think it all works great.

  • Looked like an awesome ride!

  • @BeanTVYWG I should clarify that I took the main bits from 3 different rides in 2011 for the above clip. The white trucks come from one clip (25-30 min into a ride), the yellow truck from another (3 hours into a 3:15-3:20 ride), and the start/end/descent from a 6+ hour ride (to top of Palomar and back). The various PCH sitings were mainly from a ride with my friend and host Rich, the Porsche I think was when I was on my own. But yeah it's fun riding out there.

  • Thanks for posting another video! I always enjoy watching them with the commentary. As always, I'm looking forward to the next.

  • Drafting is fun. I draft buses and big trucks when I can on my commute in L.A.

  • I chase cars too. There's a perfect little section along the Asilomar coast and another in Pebble Beach.
