If you believe that these multi-national corporations have more interest in protecting our health and providing us with necessary medication than to their bottom line, you would do well to take some anti-psychotics yourself. They don't give a flying fuck about us. And this direct to consumer advertising bullshit for "illnesses" such as RLS and adult ADD is disgusting. Long live capitalism at all costs. @checkmatebtch Capitalism and corporations aren't to blame here; if no one bought their products, they wouldn't be in business. The real issue is that so many people make uninformed medical decisions. If the US reaches a critical mass of informed consumers who refuse to pay Pharm for overpriced, unnecessary drugs, the drug industry will be forced to innovate and create new and useful drugs instead of recycling "Me Too" crap. The great thing about capitalism is the power of the informed consumer.

@tangent272 I know you said you tried diet & exercise, but maybe you need a certain combination, or higher doses of certain nutrients. Check out The Mood Cure, it was written by Julia Ross, she has a successful clinic in California treating serious conditions w/ nutrient therapy. Also, there are no "side" effects of drugs, they are all just effects, that's what the drugs do, period. Anyway, I hope you check out the book I mentioned & it helps you get off the drugs (even if they are prescribed).

I take an SSRI with serious side effects including infertility and suicidal bahaviour but for me it's actually worth it

I lost a lot of my life to anxiety and depression, trying everything else I could think of - exercise, diet, routine etc' - but it didn't all come together until I added that final piece of the puzzle

However, even though I'm living a productive life now and maybe catching up I'd give almost anything to *not* have to take it. Making people take this un-necessarily is evil
