The first graders at VLA are committed to spreading peace and social justice in their world. At school they study global history starting at kindergarten. The curricula teaches students to think critically about world events (both past and present) in order to recognize social injustice and then to create a more just world in response.

Each year they participate in a service learning project and this year my students decided to raise $2,000 towards those affected by the crisis in Darfur and to teach others about what is going on there.
