i cannot believe what i'm reading. what the fuck guys. the guitar is obviously plugged in. there is noooo way a guitar can sound like that without heing plugged into an amp, speaker cab, di box, etc. if it wasn't plugged up, you'd hear the pick striking against the strings much more than you would hear the actual note ringing from the strings. fuck i can't believe i actually have to exlain this. damn i knew most youtube users were dumb, but holy shit.

unplugged means unplugged... you're just playing it on a clean channel

@AlanSturgess Dude are you for real??? it's clearly being ran through an amp you fucking idiot

@guitarsfrommars uh your a dick

@youg0tsnip3d No - it's unplugged. I recently tried a Melody Maker and got the same sort of sound - those things really do sing out before you ever plug them in. Once amped, they give a much fuller sound. They may not be expensive, but unless you want a lot of gizmos and more than one pickup, they're well worth checking out.

Before I've bought any electric guitar, the first thing I've done is to play it UNplugged. You can tell a lot about the instrument's basic tone and woods that way. I happen to like the brighter, cleaner tones anyway. If I was into metal or shred, it might not be quite such a valid or relevant test. One of my guitars is a Tanglewood copy of a Strat which has a fabulous ringing tone when played unamplified - this really does translate into a lovely tone when amped up. You upload is a good example.
