Put some potato peelings in your pan, cover with water and boil for 15 minutes.
Next, throw away the peelings and rinse the frying pan with very hot water,
wipe it and heat a little oil in the pan. Finally wipe the pan with a paper towel.
Your pan is ready to use.
After being used several times, your frying pan will be seasoned. A good steel
pan is one which has become black after being used several times.
Nice vid & description but what do you do when you come home and the house sitter did put one in the dishwasher?

theres a much easier way. leave the new pan on a gas burner for about ten or 15 mins on max heat untill it is blackened and extremly hot then wipe oil arouind the pan and thats it done.

@yippe Why are you being so mean? You're being really mean right here. Normally you try not to be mean when you talk to people, I think.

Do steel pans have the same non stick abilities as cast iron? (I realize steel is iron, but with carbon).

@HotVoodooWitch Im still puzzled over your english. Of course de buyer have "some " idea, but thats not what i was saying. Its pretty clear you need to go back and learn to break things down and understand someone, if that doesnt work, maybe ask them in question form instead of being a condescending twat. What i was saying is a manufacturer (company) will always want what works for them first, because they lose less money. ah forget it........you wouldnt understand anyway.

@yippe I'm still puzzling over this. A happy customer is a return customer and a happy customer is one whose purchases perform as expected. I would guess that a company that has been in business as long as de Buyer has SOME idea of how best to use their products (not to mention remove the finish that's there to protect the pan from rust on the vendor's shelf) but hey, knock yourself out. And BTW, my pan performs perfectly after following the instructions and is seasoning beautifully.
