Robotnik and Readers Wives playing "Add To Buddy List" at the Zodiac Sessions which is held every Wednesday in Bruxelles Bar, Dublin.

ROBOTNIK

Robotnik is Chris Morrin, a boy from Baldoyle, with 27 swings on the merry-go-round. Robotnik is an adventurous Lo-fi concoction of pop, electronic beats and melodic musings on relationships, fantasies and twentysomethingdom. Once you listen to the music, you might be lead to the conclusion that Robotnik happens to be a lovechild of David Byrne, Beck and Yo La Tengo with Brendan Benson and Radiohead acting as midwives. However, we hope you will also consider Robotnik to be an original in his own right. Robotnik's path to the here and now swings by early memories of playing piano with his Aunt Alice, his teen garage band 'The Wesleys' and his sojourn into singer-songwriter territory with 'The Mucky Kid' EP in 2004. "I bought my first laptop back in 2005 and started to get this shit load of free software. That's what prompted me to start pressing buttons and creating my first electronic tracks," explains Robotnik. Welcome on board. http://www.robotnik.mu

READER'S WIVES

My name's Niall James Holohan. I'm the inciter behind Dublin band Reader's Wives. No longer need you surf the internet looking at crappy stage managed bands full of girls with fake tits, guys with fake moans and truly awful, thoroughly manufactured scenester haircuts who'd do anything to have their shockwave haircuts & painted nails pictured in NME. We're not trendy. We're not 17. There's only one reason this band are here. We love music. It's like medicine to us.

For those of you who've met me, virtually, just now, I've been writing since I was a kid, since I didn't know what else to do, playing music & writing tunes since I was about 14 & a professional musician since about 2004.

MUSIC

Every time I've taken a knock in my life, music has been there, to keep me going, frighten away the fear, lift me back on my feet & give me back my faith in the future. It's no accident that I do this for a living. Why waste money on psychotherapy when you can listen to the Velvet Underground, Bitches Brew or Neutral Milk Hotel?

  • very AWESOME!

  • Find fault with this one?

    Hmmm...Ok.

GrrrrRRRRREAreat idea, but lazy with the verses. I mean, you have developed the idea within the first chorus, why not develop it? the "You love this song" hook could have been exploited to emphathise the irony, and the

cacophony (although amusing) only serves to hide the lack of imagination within the verses.

I'd give it a C+ at best, Holohan, you'd better BUCK up your ideas before you come thinkin you'd get honours, d'you know what I'd mean, like? RayZOR

  • lmao...hilarious
