Update (as of Tuesday, March 10th - 2009):

This incident happened three years ago in my backyards - believe it or not, but it's a Tripod!

-

3D Model made with 3ds max (see my website - link within my profile); Footage 3d tracked with matchmover; postworked (interlacing, color grading, balancing) with combustion & After Effects.

Greetings
Daniel

  • ok thats awesome!! I have one question how did you put that tripod behind building or can you please make tutorial that would help a lot! thx

  • Hi & thanks :)

The Footage is 3d tracked, so I have put low Poly "stand ins" of the real buildings within my 3d program and applied a "matte/shadow" material in 3ds max onto them (this material blocks everything which is positioned behind them - in this case the Tripod model). Thats the wohle trick. :) The Chimneys were a bit tricky, because they got not this of a perfet rectangular shape (they are a bit irregular shaped) - so a bit of polymodelling was necessary.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Great work, yet it's not that amazing since you blurred everything in order to make the possible mistakes invisible.

  • That's true - I faked a lot of sloppy mistakes away with blurring, jaggy movement of the camera and a number of other "tricks" to make all those mistakes not this obvious... but nevertheless: I hope you like it anyway :)

thanx for the comment - I appreciate any critical comment :)

  • Ya know i wonder if all these some things that are fake are real.

  • Well, it's just a fake (see the description text) :)
