aka my 2009 Quad Cities Half Marathon report

The quote comes from the starter's pre-race comments to the runners just before the starter's gun went off. It really was a day of no excuses. Things like my wife getting stuck in traffic or no electrolytes after mile 4 did not deter me from besting my personal "gold medal" goal of 1:55:00. It wasn't a Personal Record and even was my third slowest half ever ran, but given my life and work lately, I personally kicked butt Sunday.

Time to rest for a week, and start prepping for my next half marathon -- Des Moines Half Marathon - Oct 18, 2009.

  • I think she was more stressed about getting stuck in race traffic and missing me for most of the race this year. I know she is proud of my achievements though. Thanks for watching, Angie!

  • Congrats to you!!!! I really would love to run like that.. CONGRATS once again

  • Thank you! I hope everyone can achieve that feeling of what happens when you train hard for something for months and when the time comes everything just works out great.

  • wtg! can't wait til I can jog it. Can jog a mile now thought. hehe. =)

  • 1 mile is definitely more than I could do when I first started. It just grow from there though and not ever believing I couldn't do it or I hit my limit. Thanks!

  • Hey nice I am glad someone saw themselves in my video. That photo with the extreme zoom pre-race with me under start I found on Flickr of myself (courtesy of QCRunner). It was a great day to race on Sunday.

  • I found myself and my wife at 2:16 in this video. Very cool.
