The Three Gorges Dam in China is the world's largest and most expensive hydropower project, and seen by the Chinese government as a one of the country's most prestigious undertakings.
The immense project started in 1993 and was completed a decade later. Today, it is said to have an approximate generating capacity of 20,000 Megawatt (MW).
Regular concerns, however, are voiced in both international and domestic media, particularly about the large number of people that had to be relocated, the environmental costs, and more recently the safety of the dam.
This informative video shows some of the different perspectives that exist on the project. All material was originally shot with a Canon HV20, with the exception of four pictures that were integrated in the clip.

Three Gorges bought 20% of EDP Portugal. It was a good business to Chinese, but a very bad business to the Portuguese State and people. Following blindly the orders of international troika (IMF/EU/ECB), the Portuguese Gov. is selling everything!
