11 YEAR OLD PITCHER BUSHNELL RADAR GUN IOWA BASEBALL MITCHELL MARTIN

11 YR OLD MITCHELL MARTIN PITCHING. I LIKE TO USE THE RADAR GUN SOMETIMES WITH HIS PRACTICE. HE HAS TAKEN OFF THE PAST MONTH AND A HALF FROM THROWING. FOR THE PAST WEEK WE HAVE BEGAN TRAINING AGAIN. HERE HE IS NOT THROWING AS HARD AS HE CAN. HE CAN THROW 60 61 BUT I WOULD RATHER HIM THROW STRIKES AT 57 THAN BALLS AT 61.
A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN THROW FASTER THAN WHAT THEY ACTUALLY THROW. THEY GET DISAPPOINTED WHEN THEY THINK THEY THROW 70 AND THEY ARE ACTUALLY THROWING 55 OR 60 MPH.
I HAVE TESTED THE BUSHNELL RADAR GUN AGAINST STALKER AND MPH RADAR GUNS. IT IS RIGHT ON. IT JUST CAN'T SCORE A BASEBALL MORE THAN 100 FEET AWAY, WHERE AS A STALKER OR JUGS RADAR GUN CAN SCORE A BASEBALL AT 300 FEET.

@55chh I live in Burlington also and I play against him (Him on the Xplosion, I on the Bombers) and he throws hard and has excellent control. Plus his mechanics are great. This also goes out to all the other people hating.

It might not be such a good idea using a gun on young kids. In my opinion (and I pitched many years) it could put the emphasis on mph instead of good mechanics. Solid basic mechanics might not immediately give you high mph numbers but it will give you consistancy and control to throw strikes. Jerking the ball in an attempt to get more speed results in wild pitches and inflamed elbows and shoulders. Good mechanics will keep you in the game and keep you pitching for years. The speed will come.
