The sun came out at the end of a rainy day, so I took a walk around the stones and took my camera with me. It was peaceful - very few visitors - the birds were singing. Even the main road, which runs through the centre of the circle, had few cars on it. Please look at the location map; I've taken the trouble to zero the satellite mode directly onto the stone circle, which is impressive from the air.

  • ive been to avebury a few times over the years and love the energy of the place i was sad to see the tree roots had been taken i guess people wanted them as special wands its a pity they couldnt just respect the trees and place for what it is SACRED

  • Those tree roots were special. I remember them from my childhood, and can't understand what would motivate somebody to damage them.

Aside from that, Avebury has hardly changed - timeless as ever.
