  • @marioj34 Stay up for Jessica Pratt: if she improves, she'll be the "audience" new Suherland and Anderson ;)

  • Anderson as Devia remain unsurpassed to this day and has been for 30 years. Heirs of Sutherland, Sills ... Alas no heir in sight. Massis? Lack of panache. Dessay? Out. Brief .... Who?

  • @jmuslvr Agree with you. I saw her in Venice, in Strauss's Daphne and she was breathtakingly magical, in a wonderful production.

  • A lot of sopranos are now singing this role but not really succeeding. June Anderson knows how to sing the role and does it brilliantly. Another who does the role brillaintly is Mariella Devia.

  • @cuoredeinidi

her chest register always sounded kind of "old lady-ish" even in her recordings before work with bonynge. that was just the way her voice was made. granted, it certainly detracted from her otherwise GLORIOUS instrument, but it was certainly not the result of poor technique. sutherland had better bel canto technique than any other soprano in the last 100 years

  • @cuoredeinidi

"sings like she's living in a fairytale" yes, that is a perfect description of June Anderson's singing, as opposed to Sutherland who sang everything like she was in Lord of the Rings (perhaps resulting from her early Wagner influence?)

  • She sings this brilliantly. As she does everything she sings. I just adore June Anderson.

  • Molto brava! Leggiadra ed appassionata!

  • @HenriMesquida

Di più/ More than she sings good.

    Victor

  • She almost brings a childlike quality to it and it's a change from all the coloratura screeming these piece out. Brava!
