This is incorrect. Secularists are certainly not persecuted in today's society - I used to be an atheist. You have no idea how many Christians are persecuted all around the world. It's a popular myth among atheists today that they're an oppressed minority. The truth is, there are huge numbers of nominal Christians worldwide and fewer Bible-believing Christians (such as myself) whoreally take devotion to Christ seriously. Those who do, ARE persecuted, not just by atheists, but all other groups.

Yes this happens in non-christian nations such as Lebanon but at the same time muslim de-converts are also persecuted or killed for converting to another religion or just walking away from the muslim religion.

Tell me how many christians in N. America or Europe are denied jobs or a place to live because of their beliefs? I can tell you of atheists that have gone through this.

How many christians have been shunned for their belief by family and friends?

I lost a job years ago because of being atheist, if I could have proven it in court I would have sued by boss and taken every dollar from him that I could have. I have been shunned by family & friends for my non-belief, as a former atheist you know darn well this happens all the time

(cont), this can happen in teaching positions, healthcare, etc. We have a problem in today's world with reconciling different worldviews, but, in my experience, Christianity is assaulted on pretty much all fronts. This is a problem even in the States too.

Christian focus should not be on marginalising secular opposition (I am all for the debate. I know Christianity has withstood the test of time and today is no different), but on keeping Christianity as a viable, intellectual option.

personally I am not against people believing in a deity, I really don't care, I've said it before, I have a very simple view, live and let live. But it is when other try to force their opinions or beliefs on me is when I bite back.

he's not that important, and it's (yet another sin-pride) to be that arrogant..... on that note, if this guy (shawn) is really christian, he has fallen to almost every sin in this one little "story/debacle". I'm not religious, i don't define myself as christian, and yet he disproved himself.... most people in my boat would see what he did as "wrong" and "immoral"- i guess you don't need Jesus and/or god to know that.

If he lied about donating to sick kids (also one must question why they needed this particular middle man) he preached intolerance and made christians look poorly (weather you're christian or not, you probably didn't agree with most of the crap spilling out from this guy's mouth) so, why would a guy who talked down on anyone who didn't believe as he did- and has the conscious to take money that could save a child's life- be trusted to be honest about his story of muslim threats? I totally agree. In fact, one of the institutions I find the most deplorable is the Catholic Chruch. A Church built on superstition and false doctrine, child abuse scandals which were covered up (the cases rate in the hundreds not just a few cases here and there) and so on.

The Chruch of Christ is the body of true believers in Christ. Christ's message was also very clear, man-made religion is poisonous apple. The religious community should be a vehicle to do good in the name of the Lord.

I am sorry for all that has happened to you. It is a different case in the States than it is here in England. In England, the only attempt to silence secularists seems to come largely from the Islamic quarter but most Christians in England are not what I call Christians. They are nominal Christians, uninterested in apologetics or in the historicity of the Bible itself.

In Europe, secularism is the prevailing force, and many people lose their jobs for being self-professed evangelical Christians.
