Backstage Crush Chapter 9 pt 1

Katie walked towards the elevator to wait for Kevin. Joe and Frankie were play wrestling while Nick looked on.
“Sorry to interrupt guys, but do you think all the people in the lobby have left yet?”
Nick turned to face her. “Probably not. They never give up. Why?”
“Well they already saw me with Kevin, and I’m not really in the mood to be bombarded by people I don’t know, about who I am and what I was doing with Kevin Jonas.”
“I know what you mean. But you’ll have to go through them sometime. Just look down at the ground and don’t answer anything if you don’t want to. I could ask Big Rob to go with you.”
Katie sighed, “I guess you’re right. And thanks, but I’ll be fine.”
Nick smiled and turned his attention back to Joe and Frankie to get them to start behaving since their parents were on their way over.
“Ella, are you okay to get back to school by yourself?” Mrs. Jonas asked while they waited for the elevator.
“I think so. Thank you.”
“Well, I was go ask if I could walk her home.”
Mrs. Jonas smiled. “Of course it’s alright, Kevin. I think Katie would appreciate you being next to her going through that lobby.”
“You have no idea.” Katie smiled and followed the family into the elevator. On the 23rd floor, Katie said good-bye to Kevin’s parents, Frankie, Joe and Nick, and let the door close on her and Kevin. The elevator settled on the main floor, and Katie took a deep breath.
“Ready?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” she responded. The doors opened, and their eyes were filled with the flashes of cameras. The crowd had since dispersed, and the few photographers that remained left soon after Katie and Kevin reached the front doors. The doorman opened them, and the two were out in the New York night life. Cars and taxi cabs whizzed by, casting shadows with their headlights. They walked in silence for awhile, but it was broken when a teen-aged girl walked up to Kevin.
“Excuse me...are you Kevin Jonas?” She asked.
“Yes, do you want me to sign something?”
“No, but are your brothers around? I would love to get their autographs.” she looked behind Kevin, like she expected they were going to pop out of no where. Katie’s mouth dropped open.
“No, they’re not. But I would be glad to sign something for you.” Kevin tried again.
“Okay listen, no offense, but no one would be impressed if I got your signature. And to tell you the truth, I really don’t want it.” She walked away, leaving Kevin helpless.
