  • @dea41396returns I heard the Traction motor, but I can't tell where the machine room is for this elevator.

  • @mintz515 It is hydraulic. Also, it it's an original sears. If it was traction, you would hear the motor sound you heard going up both directions. That sound that you think sounds like a traction motor is really a flat spot on (one of) the wheels

  • @dea41396returns I heard the motor sound both directions., and it did not have the scrollling arrow, which tells me it's a traction.

    I may think it's hydraulic but I don't know.

  • scrolling arrow doesn't matter... Also, if you stand outside the elevator and send it up/down, you will hear the motor only when it is going up. Trust me, Sears hasn't put in 1 traction elevator since the mid 60's
