Good solid electric cars are about to hit the American market. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is available in Japan right now. Tom Voelk gets a preview, living with it for a week. Can the average family get used to a car with limited range? Can it cruise on the highway? Tom checks it out.

Interesting offering from Mitsubishi! I love their performance, but for those interested in electric, offering a 80% charge in only 20 minutes with the commerical charger is the way I would go.
I read somewhere that there will be an option for cars like this and the leaf to buy and have a commercial-like charger to buy for your home. Even with the cost of the commercial charger unit and having an electrician to install it on your house, still probably would pay for itself over time vs. gas.
