I've run across a lot of people trying to rig the classic Luxo Jr. lamp character early in their 3D education. Many people have asked for a tutorial so I thought I'd provide this on my blog 3ds Max. To find the original blog post go here... http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/shawn/tip_rigging_the_luxo_jr_lamp
One key note I forgot in the video, the parallel arms on the lamp should be of equal length for the rig to work smoothly.

  • awesome man

  • @SuperZizo1999 I don't think you know what channel you're on....xD

  • pls make it at blender

  • I got the reference images for the lamp by downloading the HD version of this video and taking Print Screens at 00:01 for the side view, 09:31 for the front view and and around 09:33 for an orthographic view, you can model it from there. I had a problem with applying my IK Limb Solver in that I got some objects scewing, however it's fixable by unlinking the scewing objects, and going to the Hierarchy Panel and clicking the 'Reset' scale under the Adjust Transforms for each objects.

  • Hey everyone. I'm not a Maya user so am probably not the best person to demonstrate doing this in Maya ;-). I know Maya has the same constraints as what I used here so if you are familiar with the maya interface you should be able to do the same thing.

  • where is the model

  • MAYA please please....

  • Please, please make more videos. You got it down!

  • can you please put up a tutorial teaching the same rig setup in maya..... that would be very help ful

  • Great work, Can you tell me Please, How we can see the Lens Effect in side the Glass like a Bulb or Glob.. Thanks.
