Broken Promises and Broken Hearts

This song was written four years ago in Pennsylvania during the presidential campaign. I was in the western part of this swing state, which went for Bush in 2000 and did not vote for him in 2004.

Now it's 2008 and 4,000 lives have been lost in an immoral war. People have lost their savings and their homes, and the future of this country is in jeopardy.

I heard a lot of country music when I was in Pennsylvania and wanted to write a "tears in your beer" ballad about a relationship gone wrong.

The rendition offered here is from a Songs of Freedom Television show recorded about two years ago.
