This is a beautiful uhi. I love seeing other peoples. I know mine was an experience that no words can express. Uʻi nō!

Love that tatty. I have seen lots of videos where people get this done and I often have wondered how it feels. I would love to get one done this way also.

what did your daughter have to do before she could get her kakau because i understand that having a traditional tattoo is a responsibility. my kumu at school is good friends with keone nunes and she always says that you have do things to be ready and to prove that youre ready.

@hayngerl808 Hi, I'll forward your note to Teare. You just have to meet with Keone... go to Hale Ola when he's there and talk story... let him know what's on your mind and he'll get a feel for whether or not he feels you're ready. My daughter met Keone when she was like 6y/o. She became interested in Tattoo when she was 9. She got her tattoo when she was 17. She was ready then, he was ready then, they both knew it. Just meet with him... your wait may be much shorter.

To the person who asked, "Why tattoo this way vs w/ a gun", it's a personal decision. My daughter chose traditional vs machine application to honor her ancestors in a more natural, less painful way by people she loves and who love her, who understand her mana'o. Since you have an interest, you should research it... it may be something you should understand and experience for yourself...
