The Erik Tuxen Orchestra was without doubt the best jazz and dance band in Denmark during the 1930'es. Tuxen formed the band in august 1932 and disbanded around september 1936. During this period the orchestra recorded around 250 sides for the Polyphon label but only about 50 are of interest for the hot-dance and swing fan.
The Tuxen orchestra is known as the "bandleaders band" because seven of the musicians, Kai Ewans, Leo Mathisen, Kaj Møller, Winstrup Olesen, Peter Rasmussen, Berthel Skjoldborg and Axel Skouby, later became bandleaders themselves.
En lille rystedans (A little Shake Dance) is an older composision by Edvard Brink and I don't think he would have been very fond of Leo Mathisens arrangement of his tune.

Det er næsten som om man selv er deltager i Varnæsfamiliens abefest i Matador, når man hører denne herlige Tuxenplade.
