You should never run any laptop or note book etc all the time from the mains, you should take the battery out. When you buy it new charge and fully drain the battery 3 times and then take it out only using it when you are going out the house. The battery will have a much longer life.

greate computer. would it do it any harm, if i run it all the time from the mains, even though it has been fully charged?

I just bought a blue acer aspire one 1447 on ebay for $398 but you get 20% cash back so it really cost only $320!
It has 160GB of memory and 1GB of ram and a 6 cell battery. I was going to get the one at walmart but I saw this one on ebay!I cant wait to get mine!
is the screen glossy/glass or is it matt plastic like the old notebooks?

The official specs say it's a "8.9" WSVGA high-brightness (typical 180-nit) Acer CrystalBrite™ TFT LCD, 1024 x 600 pixel resolution"
The word "CrystalBrite" means it's shiny like high-end Aspire notebooks.

What is the maximum resolution that aspire one supports when connected to an external display?
Thanks!

Haven't come across one yet as they're not out just yet. I assume you can do everything you can with any other Windows PCs (with all the pro's and con's that go with that). I'll ask and see how "open" the system is.
Remember it has no DVD/CD-ROM drive so I'm curious to see what they come up with to get round the installation limitations...
