A general purpose NPN, like a 2N2222, beta about 200. The transistor is from a bag of NPN transistors I bought at Radio Shack.

You can, the results will vary depending on impedance of the output of the signal generator.

i have 2x100w amplifier and i also have heck of transistors...
can i do subwoofer output for that amp by useing transistors?
