Dobie Gray sang it first, and I think best as well. Mr. Golden Voice, and he looked 70s buff too with that 'fro.

A word or two of explanation about these videos; the last three have all been real-time performances on acoustic 6 or12, electric guitar and bass (successively, of course). But the original concept was for few backup vocals. Changing my mind, I went and added extra harmony vocals later, so that's why those "other " guys in the vid sometimes appear to be singing without opening their mouths.
All these are continuations of the Black Series, whatever the heck that is.

Great job, thanks. Tom Rush does a cool laid back version of this in an open tuning. It was written by Mentor Williams, who is songwriter Paul Williams brother.
