  • Give this man his props. It's a beautiful song and he's singing it with sincerity. It's just that this gentleman here is a bass/baritone and Levi Stubbs is a tenor. Our singer here is singing the melody CORRECTLY, but one octave down. I would like to hear this gentleman sing a real bass song that might suit his range more, like Brook Benton's "Rainy Night In Georgia" or Lou Rawls' "You'll Never Find" or "Natural Man" or Grover Washington's "Find One Hundred Ways".

  • Thanks here for the compliment, but it was Quincy Jones/James Ingram's "One Hundred Ways" from the 1981 A&M Records LP: "The Dude" and not Grover Washington. Also, I'm not trying to sound like either Lou Rawls, Levi Stubbs, Brook Benton or any other male singer. I'm just enjoying myself singing a Four Tops Motown tune from 1965 off my "Motown Master Recordings-Original Artist Karaoke" CD from the Singing Machine! Thanks for the encouragement!

  • You're right rasputin63 give this man his due. It's not the easiest song to sing but he sings it with the utmost conviction.

WTG Chicago10281 you have the courage of your convictions & that in itself speaks volumes.

  • Thank you for that kind comment, northernsmile, I was thinking, I may redo this one in stereo version!

  • @rasputin63 I was reading a little about The Tops, Levi was a Baritone, but the songs were written for a Tenor, hence the urgency in the way he sung it. IDK any other singer like him.

  • I love ya bro, don't quit yer day job!!

  • Good job. You demonstrated you liked the song and as others said sang it from within you. That takes courage to sing it and post it.

  • Stubbs just turned over in his grave...but nonetheless wonderful!!!

  • Levi Stubbs was a baritone!!

  • Well Done .x

  • RIP

  • And why not! Go for it! Personally I would keep it mono in keeping with the original ;0)
