  • It's so awsome that Bruford stays himself and dosn't try to copy collins

  • The Gabriel Vs. Collins debate should be more controversial than Kirk Vs. Picard.

  • I'm one of those who like PG and PC in genesis. I can't trash or like one over the other. My take is genesis changed when PG left and that era wasn't coming back PC took the stage and their careers skyrocketed. PG solo career was no slouch either, they were all so good in that band.

  • @eurojammer47 Those were all FANTASTIC songs. Well, including a lot more, but I won't go on with Mike and the Mechanics. ♥ I can ramble all day.

Which is what I'm doing now, so allow me to wrap this up.

My philosophy is that they were all, indeed, fabulous artists as one. But, when the pieces fell, so did the talent.

And now that I reread your comment, I saw that you said that Tony /SOLD/ Genesis. I thought we were talking about Tony's talent.

But it was fun to ramble all that way.

  • @eurojammer47 Aaah, I can argue it.

The band fell after Hackett left.

Really, as five? The band was fantastic. Phil's drumming work that he must've sold his soul to the devil for, Steve's amazing tapping, Tony... well, Tony, I can go on and on about his creativity (and so could you), Mike's bass, especially in Back In NYC, was mind-blowing. And, Peter, the face of Genesis itself.

Seperate, they had a lot of good stuff, too. Star of Sirius, Games w/out Frontiers, In The Air Tonight. (cont)

  • @SPeacock On the TWWW album there was "That's All", the chorus of "Illegal Alien", a little bit of "Your Own Special Way" and "Follow You Follow Me".

  • @TheOneEyedHound Yes, but the mind behind the solding of Genesis was NOT Phil, but Tony Banks!! Tony was the real man who sold the Genesis.

  • @GettingEmOutByFriday I see. :) Looks like the only constant piece in the medley is the ending to Stagnation.

  • @SPeacock They used tons of different songs, including Visions of Angels, Dancing With the Moonlit Knight, Blood On the Rooftops, and even songs by other artists, like The Animals' Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. You just kinda have to look around to find what they put in the medley, there's no exact list. :)

  • Phil has quite a unique appeal to music... but let's get in agreement with something here. Progressive rock was a dying genre; and Phil didn't bother to attend the funeral.

He was too busy sitting in death row.

Personally, I think Phil Collins has talent, but he sold out on Genesis, and ruined Gabriel's creation.

I mean, you don't see him changing his appearance to insanity for the music; only for the money.

Look at 4:28. No comment. (you're welcome)
