An arrangement of Stompin at the Savoy by Howard Morgen. I really like this cover by Howard Morgen. It has lots of drive and the harmonization keeps it exciting if you have a taste for jazz. You really get a sense for all parts of the song. All that done with only an arrangement for ONE guitar. Rhythm, bass, chord comps, melody, it's all there. Take a listen again.

  • Beautiful! What sets you apart to all the other youtube renditions of this song is that

you interpret it slower without heavy arpeggio so that musicians like us, who only have been playing for 50 years can figure it out or our songlists. I hope to learn a lot from you over the next few weeks as I embellish my new repertoire.

  • @WalterBoruta there is a strong air of kindness in your words. Something lacking greatly in society today. Sometimes it's a toss up over why playing guitar (music) is so enriching to me. Is it just for me, or is it because we get to share what is happening here. Some person wrote the song. another person liked it and arranged it for guitar and shared it. another person took what he got from that person. I did my thing. You watched and got something from it too. it's a nice circle

  • very fine rendition! i see it's a seagull.

do you know if howard is still teaching, say

    down around chapel hill n.c.?

  • I'm not sure. Call him. howardmorgen(dot)com

  • nice song. what a cool guitar too.

  • It is a Seagull Folk. Great guitars at very low prices but the company kinda lags a bit. An simple example is their "wearables" have been "coming soon" for about two years now. :-) They also lag behind on getting new model discriptions and specs updated at their site and catalog. Also not good and serial numbers concerning design change (woods etc)

  • Great job. I have been studing with Howard for past 4 years. I'm sure Howard approves of your performance.

  • Gorgeous! You've inspired me to work on my own arrangement. I'll be lucky to make up something half as nice.

  • you look spectacular. totally took my mind of the notes.

  • they are relaxed, eh?

  • All private at grace court, great neck. late 80's early 90's. When I got married in 92 and moved, I stopped going to him. Drop the guitar for awhile too after that, and just noddled around a bit.
