  • Google and Wikipedia are your friends. Here is a brief answer: The ratio between the sum of the sections and the larger one is the same as the ratio between the larger one and the smaller. The golden ratio is approximately 1.618...

  • Mine is a cube with a side length of 38 cm (because the height of my bed) but it can be any other size. You can see the finished version at swisskgb[dot]com[slash]blog. If you wanna have the same proportions like me, you must be sure that the ratio between the sum of the sections and the larger one is the same as the ratio between the larger one and the smaller. The golden ratio is approximately 1.618... Check wikipedia for example.

  • at first glance without scrolling down i thought off the top of my head that it looked to be about a 6inch or 6foot wide scquare(plus the length of the 2 pieces of wood splitting the sections) it seemed to be split into 3 sections measuring 1" 2" and 3", adding to be 6" or w/e it was, seems to be a simpler explanation, dont know if its the same principle or my high school brain finding more short cuts......

    let me know where i may be mistaken if u dont mind.... and how close i culd be

    Mine is a cube with a side length of 38 cm (because the height of my bed) but it can be any other size. You can see the finished version at swisskgb[dot]com[slash]blog. Because the golden ratio is approximately the ratio of two numbers in the fibonacci sequence (for higher numbers), you could split a 34cm cube into 21, 13 and 8cm parts. For your example this would mean in the fibonacci sequence a 5" cube split into 3 sections measuring 1" 2" and 3".

  • Cool, but it seems naturally disproportionate..it'd probably be better to use the ratio to make it a bit more....even, and not so....lopsided

  • Golden ratio is 1 to 1.68

  • you're right, Tool does know a lot about the golden ratio, considering "Lateralus" is based on the Fibonacci sequence.
