I agree: the Adam West series and film follow a similiar format used in the '43 and '49 serials, but much campier and the deliberate use of BANG! POOM! KAPOW! and so on. Every odd-even episode ends in a cliffhanger reminiscent of this one!

The Batman serial was a collection of familiar B actors: Robert Lowery, Lyle Talbot, William Fawcett, and Jane Adams. Shot on the proverbial shoestring budget, the serial proved to be a winner at the Saturday afternoon box office. Say what you will about the acting, but the cast was playing to a juvenile audience who knew what they wanted in terms of entertainment.

The 1949 serials are more realistic than the Adam West TV series. The one thing I enjoyed about these serials is the mystery surrounding the Wizard. Lots of great action and suspense in this one. I grew up watching these serials on VHS tapes. Now I have it on the 2-disc DVD set.
