  • I'd love to see a debate format that if a debater breaks the rules of a debate, they get an electric shock.

So... how many times would Kirk and Comfort light up for mentioning the Bible?

  • I think if they were shocked every time they said something that they already agreed they wouldn't, their bodies would be available for purrchase at KFC as "Extra Crispy".

  • WotM main arguement seems to be "basically have completely and utter faith in god, and he will reviel himself". So you basically have to BE a christian, to BELIEVE in christianity.

    Thats ridiculous.

  • Brilliant series.

  • That's why I said it's necessary to go "from the most egregious or laughable and obvious to the lesser and STAY on that issue until it's pulverized.

It requires the same level of aggressive focus as the theist's intention to scatter and divert attention.

You can't allow progression or dismissal until you're done with their first flaw or you'll get nowhere.

  • The problem comes, specifically, in formal debates where you simply don't have the time for it.

Additionally, there are further attempts to derail the subject by tacking on more ignorance to your rebuttals.

  • "It's the usual shotgun-spread argument style that most Christian-types use." -

True: The only viable approach to this tactic is to select out the fallacies - one at a time - ordered from the most egregious or laughable and obvious to the lesser and stay on that issue until it's pulverized.

It's known as focus in the face of flimflam in some circles.

  • Only for the closeted gays.

  • Actually, to NOT believe in the POSSIBILITY of God IS very un scientific.

BUT, Atheism goes ALONG with the Bible... because we were given free will.

I DO believe in God, and know in my heart that He does NOT want blind faith from His followers.

  • Does Kelly have a last name?

  • Kirk Cameron was a draw for viewers.

  • This debate was laughable on BOTH fronts as far as I am concerned.

We have two very intelligent people like Brian and Kelly presenting a case for atheism. A better opponent for this debate would have been a near-death experiencer or one who studies the phenomenon.

But instead, the Rational Response Squad chose to waste their time debating a couple of creationist yokels like Ray and Kirk.

And NDEer would have had a hard enough time with Brian and Kelly. Ray and Kirk were a JOKE!

  • Great series.

  • Exactly, I don't remember who said it (heck, could've been dechha) about VFX, but it applies to most christians and creationists: It's like a yarn ball of tangled up fallacies and it would take hours on end to unravel the whole thing (on why many atheists don't argue against VFX's videos and instead just ridicule him).
