@ddbb2626 cleaning , and leave the sheded skin with them , they'll consume it for vitamin of their new skin ^^
or else they'll have weak skin and easily cause death due to high water pressure

I just got 3 Amano shrimp today. I put them in my planted tank and haven't seen them since! They're all about 1.5 inches so I thought I'd see them foraging. All of my excitement has turned to boredom. Do yours tend to be shy? I'm hoping they're just getting adjusted.

The females are noticeably larger as adults. Also, the females have "skirts", i.e. their abdomens look fatter from the side; the "skirt" helps them to carry their eggs. Another way to tell is sexually mature females frequently have a white "saddle" on their backs. The saddle is actually where eggs develop before they're fertilized.

Absolutely, they do it all the time. I don't know if they're scratching per se, or cleaning themselves.
