Following the tremendous success of the book Children of China, this vision for Children of Africa was born.
With the team up of renowned fashion stylist Alethea Gold and award winning children's photographer, Luca Zordan who worked together for many years, they compiled a beautiful photographic book showcasing children in China with all proceeds donated to the Chi Heng Foundation to support orphaned HIV/AIDS affected children in Central China.
In time for the Beijing Olympics, the book was endorsed by Jackie Chan with a full support of the Chinese Government and corporate support worldwide with the likes of Coca Cola, Citibank, KPMG, Qantas, MAC, Louis Vuitton, and many more.
The team is doing it this time in South Africa undertaking their time, pro-Bono, to the Children of South Africa project. 100% of the profits are being donated directly to the MaAfrika Tikkun charity (of which Nelson Mandela is the Chief Patron) to support orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa.
The Children of South Africa is a stunning photographic journey capturing South African children from every walk of life, set against some of the most beautiful landscapes and architecture. These powerful, emotive images will highlight the magic, diverse beauty and spirit of hope that is South Africa.
The book has been launched before the opening of FIFA World Cup which is being held in South Africa. It is a corporate gift which is not only a memento for South Africa but will make a genuine change especially for the South African children. The proceeds from the sale of the book will subsidize sports and soccer programs for HIV/AIDS affected orphans and vulnerable children in 6 townships.
Luca and Alethea are passionate about helping and empowering children all over the world. It is with your help that they can continue make a difference and share the magic of seeing the world through the children's eyes. By buying this book and using it as a corporate gift, you will give a memento to remember and at the same time help make a difference.
The first exhibition was held in New York City last June 18, 2010. The first edition of the book is sold out and the next edition is currently in process to be printed.
