http://www.DadLabs.com - Pet loss can be a difficult experience for kids. Recently, Daddy Clay dealt with this as his family's beloved hamster, and star of the classic DadLabs video "Starter Pets", Mr. Paws, passed away. In this episode of Quality Time, he shares his suggestions to parents on how to organize a pet funeral. Telling stories and offering a prayer are nice ways to recognize a pet at a funeral service. Dads and moms can also encourage children to honor the departed pet with craft projects, such as creating a memorial stepping stone. Daddy Clay even shares his special Mr. Paws story with us. Has your child experienced the death of a pet? Have you held pet funerals or a memorial service? Did you bury the pet in a pet cemetery? Share your thoughts on this topic with us by dropping a comment on this video or visiting us at DadLabs.com. DadLabs Ep. 678 is brought to you by BabyBjorn. Distributed by Tubemogul.

  • We used to have funerals for baby birds that had fallen from the nest and roadkill squirrels as kids. Our mom let us do it as long as we didn't touch it with our hands but kind of used the garden trowel to move it to it's grave. I laugh every time I think about it now.

  • @chickenetti That reminds me that we used to do a similar thing when I was a kid.

  • I remember my dog Lucy like it was yesterday I miss her so much.

My mom brought up here to Quebec for one last time to see her because I knew being th old dogie she was I would not see her again.

I'm glad I got to see her for one last time.

I would have loved to do a mini funeral for her till this day she means a lot to me

This video was for sure a touchy subject for me.

If I knew of a place here I would have buried her there.

I think I would have buried her in my backyard

  • @littleMe27 Thanks for sharing your story.

  • When I was a kid our goldfish died and my brother, my dad and I all gathered around the toilet to give him a burial at sea. Well, dad flushed the toilet but that little fish corpse just swirled and swirled and floated right back up. After several attempts my dad finally put it down the garbage disposal.
