This was the scene a couple of hours following a shooting that occurred at a hair salon in a strip mall at the corner of East Stockton and Lindale Road. The incident left 1 women dead and five others wounded. The woman was apparently an innocent bystander who was in her car with her two-year old son. The child was apparently still on the scene being cared for by the Sac Fire Dept and other emergency personnel but was not wounded in the shooting. The shooter(s) were still outstanding at the time. Much of the information was provided to me by a Fox 40 local cameraman who was also on the scene with several other local news stations.

  • IF THAT WAS RECORDED A FEW HOURS AFTER IT HAPPENED WHY DO THEY STILL HAVE THAT POOR LADY LAYING ON THE FLOOR. AT LEAST SHOW HER SOME RESPECT AND PUT HER IN AN AMBULANCE.

  • @CrystalPeralta1 My understanding is that the police officers, medics, firefighters cannot touch the body of someone who is fatally injured. They can only protect it and the crime scene that it's located it. The county coroner is the only one that can move the body and they usually don't arrive at crime scenes until several hours later. I had a fatal car accident in front of my apartment once. The bodies remained in the car for nearly eight hours until the coroner arrived to remove them.

  • @jujumediazone No, not at all.

We can touch them all we want. Reason why the body is typically left there is for the investigation and pictures to be taken for later.

I worked a fatal car accident on NYE a week ago. All the living patients were quickly transported to the hospital, but the dead one was trapped in the car. We spend over an hour extricating the body from the wreckage.

It doesn't matter who moves the body, the body just doesn't moved until everything else is done.

  • @Linussbugg Technically yes, the officers, firefighters, & medics can touch the bodies. But even after photos are taken and PD (and their IS team) do the investigation, the body still tends to remain there on scene for extended periods of time until the coroner arrives, at least for our county (Contra Costa County).

  • @CrystalPeralta1 As sad as it is, it's really the usual way they handle such crime scenes. I've seen it happen this way time after time.

  • @jujumediazone If its an obvious crime scene.. then nobody disturbs the body.... E.G. visible white/grey matter.. (exit wound..) ..decapitation etc. etc....the only reason for ANY EMS to touch the victim is if there are any signs of life. so if the subject was obviously dead..EMS leaves it alone. plain and simple. I worked in East oakland so i think i know.. CSI would have your ass messing with the CS

  • WORKING WITH THE YOLO COUNTY CORONER..CRYSTAL PERALTA YOU ARE RIGHT...SOMETIMES IT CAN TAKE ANYWHERE FROM AN HOUR TO TEN HOURS..DEPENDING ON HOW BACKED UP CALLS ARE..CORONERS ALSO GO TO HOUSES AND SUCH..

  • I grew up with her and I knew the guy who also died in this sad situation. The end of the day, I feel bad for the 3yrd boy she left behind. RiP Monique Nelson & Beethy.

  • damn thats by the new wal mart

  • its sad to say but i live out here in South Sac and shootings and murders are far far to normal. I live on Mack Road and you wouldnt believe how its almost a few a week, sad but thats what life has come to. And its sad to say that i've become used to it sometimes to the point that you don't even notice gunshots sometimes. But what can you do espicially when there isnt many opportunities, sub standard living, and a very overstretched police force that no one puts there trust in
