fair point, but an outdated view, in my opinion. I have performed at many venues and the people generally don't care how the musicians look - as long as the music is of a good quality. We hear with our ears, not our eyes. 'inappropriate' is an interesting word to use - please explain.

egh. way to read way too much into that. obviously you don't have to look pretentious to sing classical music...but when you're performing in what looks like a church with a singer who is in an expensive gown with jewels singing an intimate vocal piece and you're the ACCOMPANIST...i think green hair is distracting and inappropriate.
