My mom was always honest with me...like when i was 7 and I asked her if Santa was real she just crushed my hopes and dreams and replied with a no. D:
Sigh....I knew he was too good to be true. :\

My mom was always honest with me, but only as much as I needed to know. At the boys age, my mom would have said, "Sometimes Mommy bleeds a whole lot, and this stop the bleeding, like a big band aid." For the sex thing, "Mommy and Daddy were doing something that only grown ups find fun, like when you play with your action figure." Stuff like that. You can be honest while keeping it age appropriate. It also cuts back on the awkwardness of some of these "talks". Outright lies are never good.
