Scotland needs Champions to Protect Scottish Communities

Safer communities: the SNP is funding more police, as we promised an additional 1,000 police officers in the life time of this Parliament. And we are cracking down on the cheap booze that fuels so much anti-social behavior. More knife carriers are being sent to jail and they are getting longer sentences. It is this sort of effective action on knife crime that can be replicated when Scotland has responsibility for the law on air weapons and the SNP are arguing for this transfer to take place as soon as possible, just as campaigners in communities across Scotland have been calling for.

@maxcommunist True, but the liberal gun and knife laws thing is not. People kill eachother, its reality and you cant stop it. I could murder you with a knife, gun, or spoon and it wouldnt have a very outcome. Scotland is still a fucked up, drunk and amoral country and it will be for the foreseeable future.

The only way to actually deal with crime is to take care of the socio-economical problems, which is the cause for an overwhelmingly majority of all crimes. Problems such as unemployment, homelessness, poverty, low quality schools etc Liberal gun and knife laws only leads to an increase of violent crime, a good example of this is Sweden vs Finland. Sweden has very strict gun laws and has 2.36 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people, Finland with its very liberal gun laws has 6.86.
