This is all just plain stupid. If people are really interested in Design, which is Human-Centered, check out some Jacque Fresco videos.

I'm a designer, and I think many would think this isn't as much human centered as it is stupid. Cubicles with fake robotic flowers are still the design of a prison. we need design of an ecosystem without cubicles int he first place

The presentations DO have nice eye-candy, but how much additional cost is involved in producing such presentations?. . .cost which will be reflected in a contract with a client. All the animation, compositing and production has to take time and effort, therefore, more time is spent on creating the presentation vs creating ideas (which in many cases might or might not be a wise use of resources). Perhaps they hire cheap animators in Korea or desperate media students comming out of school.

lol yeah you're totally right but you don't expect someone on the payroll of the machine to talk about consuming less do you!!

Frankly if he did he would probabally loose his job anyway and hell the spyfish is cool.

Cost is a delusion; the question isn't "How much does it cost?" The question is do we have the resources?" And of cours this is a big resounding YES.

We can't all be the next Ecomagination movement. It's an axiom of capitalism that if people want something, then they'll buy it and someone will supply it. If people like a useless product, then it will sell and that's the whole point.

So, while an iPhone may seem "vain" and "unnecessary", even something as useful/sustainable as a new bicyle-powered water filter has to be designed, and it usually follows a similar process as something designed by IDEO.
