Read the story at www.suffolktimes.com. Months after a widely-circulated petition against a proposed 7-Eleven in Mattituck, a small community on the North Fork of Long Island, N.Y., nearly 50 protesters wielded picket signs and made some noise for an hour near a Citgo station on Route 25 Saturday afternoon. If approved by Southold Town, the much-contested convenience store would replace the long-standing gas station. Many protesters said that the 24-hour store will create quality-of-life and traffic problems near an already-congested part of town. A public hearing on the proposed 7-Eleven will take place on Tuesday. Read the full story on Thursday at www.suffolktimes.com.
