Fare evasion has risen from $50million to 80$million due to ticket inspectors being told to "go easy" on people when Myki was introduced and give them the benefit of the doubt. This has lead to people purposely fare evading. As reported on Channel 10 5pm evening news, 8th February 2011

*sigh* We can all be honest, buy the right ticket upfront and pay to use the system appropriately but seriously...
What they are doing with our money is mostly ridiculous things that dont give back to the public.
over $1.3 billion on Myki when the infrastructure is in desperate need of emergency upgrades to effectively operate and manage increasing passenger loads.
