The Bucksnort Saloon is probably the "seasoned citizen" of Colorado mountain taverns. Located in Sphinx Park about 1.5 miles up Elk Creek Road from Pine, Colorado, it has drawn locals and Denverites since the days of the narrow gauge railroad passing through the canyon of the North Fork of the South Platte River. Patrons can also access the Bucksnort from US-285 and Elk Creek Road. Drive east - down hill - 6.5 miles. The road is winding and narrow in places so be careful!
Bob Turner had patronized the Bucksnort occasionally over many years but this was his first time performing in this rustic venue. Sitting in with Bob were mountain "local" musicians Barry Gordon (harmonica) and Brandy Herbert (Telecaster). Les Appel, a long time friend of Bob's, came up from the Castle Rock area to sit in with his Telecaster.
Look forward to further appearances by Bob and friends at the Bucksnort and, more frequently, at Sweet Fanny Adams, an Irish pub located in Bailey, Colorado.
Great Job!
Looks like lots of fun!
Wish I was there :)
