According to Petzl the international standard for Chairlift and Gondala(sp) evacuation is three hours maximum in perfect weather conditions. On high chairlifts or those with adverse terrain underneath Petzl has designed systems for rescue workers to actually move across the top of the cable from chair to chair.
thanks for posting. I always wondered how they evacuated chairlifts. Now I'm not so concerned, it looks pretty easy, but our chairs out west are a lot higher!
